For this urban front garden we rejuvenated the inherited yorkstone paving by creating tiny areas for planting between the existing slabs. Grasses such as Nassella tenuissima and weedy plants like Linaria purpurea combine with Irises and Salvias to create a wild and naturalistic space. Plants that happily self-seed in these conditions were prioritised such as Verbena bonariensis, Lychnis coronaria and Chives. A mixed Lavender hedge against the front railings is a nod to the formal front gardens that are more usual in London squares.
